MEETING AT CLUBHOUSE REGARDING PROPERTY TAXES

First off, congratulations to John Keane and his committee for all their hard work and effort. It certainly has paid off with John's announcement at our clubhouse meeting on Saturday.

Hopefully, the township will sign their agreed upon proposal and we can all celebrate with an average reduction of $2000/year starting 2008. Based upon John's formula, here is what you should do in order to figure out what your taxes would be for 2008

1. Find your tax bill. Let's say your land is $66,300 and your improvements are $231,600 for a total of $297,900 and you are paying $10,098 in taxes for the year 2007

2. Reduce the land portion to $50,000 (higher for golf course property). You then are saving $16,300 on land.

3. Take 15% off of the Improvements part of the tax bill ($231,600) so you are now going to pay taxes on your Improvements which would equal $231,600 X 15% = $34,740. Deduct this amount from the $231,600 which equals $196,860 (this is now the figure you use to calculate the taxes on your improvements only.

4. Add the land ($50,000) to the improvements ($196,860) which equals $246,860

5. Take the $246,860 and divide it by your original total found on your tax bill $297,900 and this equals 0.8287 (this number should always be less than 1.0.

6. Now take that number 0.8287 and multiply it by your 2007 total tax which in this example would be $10,098 and you will get $8,368, so your savings would be $10,098 - $8,368 (your new tax), or $1730

FILL IT OUT AND SEND IT AWAY

(EMAILER'S NOTE: I WILL BE SENDING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION FORM OUT WITH MY EMAIL. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE ALL VOTE. I KNOW JERRY FOR OVER 35 YEARS AND HE WILL DEFINITELY BE AN ASSET IN HAVING HIM SERVE AS A FIRE COMMISSIONER. REMEMBER, MONROE TOWNSHIP HAS A PAID FIRE COMPANY AND WE ALL PAY FOR THIS SERVICE. WITH LEN LEVENE (WHO IS ALREADY A FIRE COMMISSIONER AND A RESIDENT OF REGENCY, HAVING JERRY ON BOARD WILL GIVE US A "VOICE" IN WHAT WE WILL OR WILL NOT BE PAYING FOR THESE SERVICES. FOR EXAMPLE, BUILDING A NEW FIRE HOUSE THAT COST US MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WHICH WAS STATE OF THE ART, WAS THIS NECESSARY? FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD, THERE ISN'T A FIREHOUSE IN NEW YORK THAT HAS WHAT THIS FIREHOUSE HAS). THE QUESTION REALLY IS - WAS IT NECESSARY, OR COULD WE HAVE SCALED DOWN THAT PROJECT? THESE ARE TOUGH TIMES AND BUILDING A "CADILLAC" OF A FIREHOUSE - WAS IT ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY?)

HERE'S WHERE WE AT REGENCY CAN MAKE SOME CHANGES. VERY FEW PEOPLE COME OUT AND VOTE FOR THESE FIRE ELECTIONS. THE BOOTHS WILL BE AT OUR CLUBHOUSE AND IF WE ALL RALLIED AROUND AND SUPPORTED JERRY, IT WILL SHOW THAT WE ARE UNITED. IT WILL BE JUST THE BEGINNING OF SHOWING OUR UNITY. IF SOMEONE WANTS TO RUN FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD (AND I HOPE WE HAVE MANY RESIDENTS WHO WANT TOO), THIS TOO MIGHT MAKE SOME DIFFERENCE IN WHAT "SENIORS" HAVE TO SAY REGARDING THE SCHOOL SYSTEM. AFTER ALL WE PAY FOR IT SO WHY NOT PROVIDE INPUT THAT MIGHT SAVE US SOME DOLLARS.

Again, if you are out of state click on this link for your application to have an absentee ballot sent to you

A RESIDENT COMMENTS REGARDING THE PREVIOUS EMAIL ABOUT SPEEDING ON COUNTRY CLUB

Thanks for the piece about the speeders on CCDrive. I have seen many doing 35-45 mph and they don't live in the new section. Also UPS, FED EX, AND DSL ARE ALSO SPEEDERS. The comunity will get the message when some one is killed or a grandchild is run over. You are right about the signs, the speeders don't read..Construction worker (not Toll) are also speeders...ie, after someone finishes a job late in the afternoon, he is out of here like as bat out of hell. I intend to take the trucks name and call them re : one of their drivers was speeding and ask that they contact the driver and tell them to obey the 25mph rule or I will ask residents not to use the company. I know we have NO recourse with the police since the streets have not been turned over to the town.

Here is another response I received from another resident:

"when I go down Country Club Dr, I put my cruise control on---I don't know why more residents don't do this. More importantly, instead of spending money and energy on speed strips, bumps, etc---------get the Monroe police to use radar and ticket speeders!!!!!-------That will get the attention. If speed bumps, strips, etc are the answer to speeding than every street in the country would have them. To me, this problem and others is caused by the residents---how many times have we also seen residents who live on streets perpendicular to Country Club Dr, come down those streets and NOT stop at the full stop sign as they make their left onto Country Club Dr!!! "

MEADOWS GOLF SEASON WEDNESDAY'S 2008 (MEN)- ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. I'm happy to announce that JERRY SCOTT has consented to be our TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR for the 2008 season. Jerry promises to provide us with some real different types of TOURNAMENTS. Each week we will have a TOURNAMENT and the money we will be collecting will go towards the prizes.

(NOTE: IF THE TOURNAMENTS ARE ANYTHING LIKE THE POKER GAMES JERRY HAS CREATED, WE ARE IN FOR A BIG TREAT PLUS A LOT OF QUESTIONS)

2. Many thanks again to SEYMOUR HYDEN for being our TREASURER. Seymour has retired and taking his place is JERRY STOLLAR. Jerry will be doing the collecting and distributing of payments.

3. I will be meeting with Jerry and Jerry to discuss what we need as far as our "membership dues". It would probably be close to what we paid last year. We will figure out how many prizes will be awarded for the season and include the gift we usually give Susan and then divide it equally amongst all the players. We do have money left over from last season that will go into this year's Treasury.

4. I believe we have close to the same number of golfers this season as last season. We might be short a few players but I told the Meadows that we want the same number of tee times on Wednesday. I will send out a note to the community to make sure we have at least 52 players (13 tee times) but I might add a few extra players since each week we are always short players. I think we currently have about 50 or 51 players. We lost a few from last year but we picked up some new players for the coming year. Our "rookie" players look promising.

5. MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE MEADOWS AS SOON AS YOU CAN TO PICK UP YOUR 2008 CARD. PLEASE AVOID PICKING UP THIS CARD ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE SEASON. IF YOU ARE IN FLORIDA, WHEN YOU COME HOME TRY TO GET IT BEFORE YOUR FIRST PLAY AT THE MEADOWS.

6. JERRY SCOTT SENT ME A LINK THAT WE SHOULD ALL BE USING FOR THE 2008 SEASON. THIS LINK, WHICH IS FREE, WILL CALCULATE YOUR HANDICAP BASED UPON WHATEVER COURSE YOU ARE PLAYING ON. PLEASE GO TO: http://fairwayfiles.com AND SIGN UP. JERRY MIGHT REQUIRE YOUR HANDICAP RATINGS IN ORDER TO RUN SOME OF OUR TOURNAMENTS. EACH WEEK YOUR SCORES SHOULD BE ENTERED. I GUESS THIS COMING YEAR WILL BE THE FIRST YEAR THAT I WILL BE KEEPING SCORE.

7. ON MY BLOG YOU WILL FIND (ON THE LEFT SIDE) MEN'S GOLF AT THE MEADOWS. UNDER IT WILL BE THE SCHEDULES FOR THE SEASON PLUS OTHER RELATED MATERIALS. I WILL PROBABLY SCHEDULE 4 WEEKS AT A TIME AND THE FIRST SCHEDULE WILL BE POSTED IN MARCH FOR OUR APRIL START. PRIOR TO POSTING A SCHEDULE I WILL ASK ALL MEADOWS PLAYERS IF THEY KNOW WHAT DATES IN THE UPCOMING 4 WEEKS THEY CAN'T PLAY. YOU WILL NOT BE SCHEDULED ON THOSE DAYS. HOWEVER, IF YOUR NAME IS POSTED ON THE SCHEDULE AND YOU NEED TO BE OFF, EITHER FIND A SUB OR PAY THE TREASURER $9 BECAUSE OF THE ADDTIONAL COSTS TO THE OTHER PLAYERS.

More information will be forthcoming at the end of February, beginning of March.
Thanks
Ron

ATTENTION MEN GOLFERS (REGENCY GOLF COURSE - NOT THE MEADOWS)

The Regency Men's Golf League will be playing on Thursdays at 8AM and 10AM. Again we will ask for people to notify us as to which time they prefer, when they send their checks.

If we have too many people at either time, we will have to rotate everyone once a month to the time with the available slots.

All players are required to have GHIN handicaps by April 29, in order to be included in the first week's competition, and to enable the computer to assign the teams. for weekly competition.

This year, all competitions will be team events.

Golf Handicap Index fee for $20 in cash is payable in Golf Pro Shop. This should be done early in April as they will have to activate the handicap for those that are already in the system, or create the handicap for new members, prior to entering scores

(New Golfers: To establish a handicap, ten 9 hole scores or five 18 hole scores must be entered)

Cost is $60 for league membership which includes dues, beginning of year breakfast, end of season luncheon, and prizes.
