IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM KIEVE KORTMANSKY REGARDING VERIZON DSL
Our resident Board member, Kieve Kortmansky has spent the day (and evening) trying to work out and correct a problem that he was just informed about this afternoon. He recognized that this issue was of extreme importance to the community and he has spent hours "fighting" with various representatives of Verizon to try and correct what Verizon is telling Regency residents when they call about signing up for DSL. It seems that Verizon has "run out of capacity" for adding new DSL customers from our area.
As mentioned, Kieve has spoken with practically everyone at Verizon and they are just taking a "hard line" in saying that they aren't adding any new customers from our area. That to me (and to Kieve) is pure nonsense. A company as large as Verizon "running out of capacity"? Give me a break!!
So Regency residents, we have to do what we do best, FIGHT! Here are 3 telephone numbers that we ask you to call and call as soon as you can:

What do you say? Simply, I want to sign up for DSL! They say NO, you say, put a supervisor on! Supervisor says NO, put your boss on! Go up the ladder until someone starts giving you answers, like when will you have the capacity? If they don't know, then ask for the person who does know.
Unfortunately I have dealt with some of the ISP issues with governmental agency's and I found out that NO governmental agency regulates ISP's.

Many of you have mentioned that you have received letters from Verizon talking about a package deal with their DSL. How can they send out these letters knowing that they are out of capacity. That's a Better Business Bureau issue and let them know that you will file a complaint.
So what can you do at this time? Frankly speaking you don't have much of a choice. If they don't have the capacity by the time we change over from AB to Comcast then Comcast might be the only supplier for internet services once AB is officially out of the cable and internet business.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND ME YOUR NEW EMAIL ADDRESSES ONCE YOU GET THEM. MANY RESIDENTS HAVE GIVEN ME ALTERNATE EMAIL ADDRESSES IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY RECEIVE MY EMAILS.
AGAIN, IF YOU GO TO YAHOO.COM OR HOTMAIL.COM YOU CAN GET A FREE EMAIL ADDRESS. IT'S A GOOD PRACTICE TO HAVE AN ALTERNATE ADDRESS JUST IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENS WITH YOUR MAIN ADDRESS. I'M SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE.
GAS BILLS FROM PSE&G
I've received a few emails and calls regarding this month's gas bill. I thought my bill was high ($685 - Prestwick with a loft) but there are others who have had higher bills. According to some residents PSE&G received a price increase in November for over 20%. According to PSE&G, the month in question compared to last year at the same time, showed that we were about 20% colder this year than last year.
Considering that people on Social Security only receive a cost of living increase that is less than 5%, how do they cope with the gas increase?. I guess they either give up eating or give up getting their medications. As sad as it might sound, I've seen MANY people stop taking their medications in order to eat and be sheltered.
One hospital in New York once discharged a patient with many prescriptions for medication knowing that the patient didn't have enough money to get what was ordered and the patient died. I can forsee people who are less fortunate lowering their thermostats and freezing during the winter.
There are many programs for the truly indigent. However, as always, middle income gets another hit with eventually some middle income families bordering on becoming indigent enough to apply for these programs to lower their heating costs.
Does the gas company or BPU care? I doubt it!

Our sincere condolences are extended to Martin Metz and his family on the passing of Marty's mother Sadie Metz, of Freehold, who died this past Sunday AFTER A long illness. She was 88 years old. She was buried in the Hebrew Benefit Society Cemetary in Freehold on Monday. They are sitting shiva only through Wednesday night at his brothers home at 53 Creamery Road, Colts Neck.
