OPENING FILES ON MY BLOG OR EMAILS

For standardization purposes I have indicated that MOST files I include in my emails and on my blog are in PDF format. PDF is usually the standard in the industry and is easily opened by a free program called ADOBE ACROBAT READER. You would have to download this program (it's free) from Adobe.com

FILTERING OF EMAILS

As you probably know already, companies like AB, AOL, YAHOO, etc. all filter emails that are being sent out or received. My most recent problem besides AOL is Advanced Broadband. They supposedly put me on their white list which would take off the filters on their end and allow emails to come to you. However, you probably don't realize that your program has it's own filters and depending upon how your filters are set, this might prevent some emails (like mine) from being received.

I just received this email from AB:

There are no blocks on your email address. However we cannot control any individual person's security setting on their email nor would we know how to do so. That individual would have to know the setting on their PC in order to change them.

You will have to check your computer's email settings or security settings to determine if you are losing, not only my emails, but emails sent to you from other individuals.

My personal computer has been set so that ALL emails aren't filtered. I could tell you as a fact, when I had my emails filtered some legitimate emails were not being received. Now I receive all those emails + the junk or spam emails and I just wipe them out when they come in.

Bill Langer (thank you Bill) has provided us with a way of changing your filter settings if you are using AB. My suggestion, change your filter settings.

AB customers must also make sure that my email messages doesn't go directly into your SPAM or JUNK email boxes. I'm not sure but I think if you use Bill's link you can move messages from SPAM/JUNK into the inbox and then future emails will be put into your inbox.

Other ISP customers must make sure that they check their SPAM/JUNK boxes and find a way of taking my messages out of these boxes and into the INBOX. There are so many email systems that I can't give a "generic" fix to the problem. You have to play around with it or contact your email administrator. Again, check your SPAM or JUNK email boxes to make sure my messages aren't going there.

IMPORTANT: INTELLICONTACT JUST INFORMED ME THAT BY PUTTING MY ABOVE EMAIL ADDRESS (RPOST@MONMOUTH.COM) INTO YOUR ADDRESS BOOK THIS MIGHT PREVENT MESSAGES GOING INTO SPAM. SO PLEASE MAKE SURE MY EMAIL ADDRESS IS IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK.

A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE!

We all heard about a STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, but have we all heard about a STREETLIGHT NAMED ELLIS. I guess not, so here's the story. Our own Allan Ellis, had a mission when he first moved in to Regency. Some missions men have when they first move in is to empty the cartons, take the garbage out, go shopping with the wife for all new things for the home, etc. but Allan's mission in life was twofold. First, to put a road streetlight on 613 as you come into the development from 613 and his second mission was to get the street lights on Country Club down at 613 working.

I am proud to say that Mission One has been accomplished, A WORKING streetlight is now in front of the entrance on 613. It was never there before. So with all the hard work and dedication to this project, I am officially naming the 613 streetlight, THE ALLAN ELLIS - I SEE THE LIGHT - STREETLIGHT! When you come in through 613 and as you pass the light just give a little recognition by saying, I SEE THE LIGHT! I know Allan would appreciate it. I know when I come in I always say it because Greta now says, turn by the light and I say, okay, I SEE THE LIGHT!

Mission two still hasn't been accomplished. The light on Country Club is still out. So, I give my dear friend Allan, two months to get that light working or, I SEE THE LIGHT, LIGHT we be renamed, THERE GOES THE LIGHT.

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME AND COMPUTER READJUSTMENT

Some people may forget to change their clocks for daylight saving time. But computers and other gadgets are usually programmed to change automatically.

But this year, you could run into some hiccups. Why? Daylight saving time starts three weeks earlier and ends a week later. Programs that adjust automatically for daylight saving time may need patches.
