WHAT HIGH SCHOOL DID YOU GRADUATE FROM?

My last email asked a question, which High School did you graduate from? I am collating that information and it will be presented in one of my emails and on the BLOG. You don't have to give the year you graduated, since this might be some personal info. you don't want known.

I know we have some Jeff graduates, but so far Tilden and Sheepshead are in the lead. It's okay, Tilden will not tease Jeff about all the losses in football Jeff had when playing Tilden on Thanksgiving Day. I promise I won't tease any Jeff graduates because I know you had to go through life being "heckled" and "jeckled" by Tildenites. So far we have the following residents in REGENCY'S YEARBOOK OF HIGH SCHOOL's, so why not join the rest of us and let us know which High School you graduated from.

(See left side of blog for list of residents and High Schools)

THANK YOU REGENCY RESIDENTS

There are times that I must write a thank you to Regency residents for all your kind words and emails regarding my emailing. I just got off the phone with a Regency resident who typically exemplified your kind words and messages.

I am happy to provide this service to the community. It keeps us "linked" together and I am also "linked" to those residents who have moved away (like the Goldberg;'s) who still want to see how Regency and their friends are doing. The funny part is that Seena and Norm Goldberg (they use to live behind me) who moved to Florida in a community without an EMAILER, have told me that emailing brings the community closer together. Seena, if your (former) house and my house were closer together, well who knows what might happen? Ask Greta, I sleepwalk! I could tell the community the story I told you about sleepwalking but I'll save that story.

However, I have to tell you this story. I love TWINKEE'S! Greta told me that I get up in the middle of the night and "RAID" the pantry and eat my TWINKEE'S. I told her she was nuts. However, one morning I woke up and on the top of the blanket I was looking straight at a half eaten TWINKEE. I should have just eaten it before Greta got up but I had to tell the truth.

Talklng about TWINKEE'S, one evening we went out to dinner with some friends and Bill Langer and Carol were there. Bill said something to me and I told him that I can be bribed with a TWINKEE. Almost immediately, out of one of Bill's pockets comes a TWINKEE. Well we laughed and I said that I preferred the DOUBLE WRAPPED TWINKEE'S so out of his other pocket comes another TWINKEE. I thought I was in one of those comedy routines where I was the stooge giving lead in's to a joke.

I guess a got a little off the track but again, many thanks for all the kind words about emailing. You're a great community and it is my privilege to do this for our family of friends.

GARAGE DOORS OPEN WITHOUT RESIDENT(S) OPENING THEM

In my last emails there was a message from one of our residents about his garage doors being opened without his actually opening them. He asked if anyone else had the problem. So far, three residents (including the initial resident) have had the same problem.

Here's what I wrote one resident which is my viewpoint on what possibly happened and what protection you might want just in case there could be a problem.

The first thing I would do is to change the settings (little switches) in the remote and on your garage door opener. Of course, make sure the settings in your remote match the settings of your garage door opener. Someone might have the same settings and when they are opening their garage door(s) they might be opening yours.

The second and most important thing is to set your house alarm. Surprisingly enough, there are many residents who don't set their house alarms.

With the number of homes that would be here at Regency, there is bound to be some duplication of garage door settings. My wife can open our garage doors from about a half a block away, once she sees our home from Crenshaw (I'm on the corner of Crenshaw and Hogan). So someone driving down the street, clicking away on a Sears remote garage door opener, can easily see which garage doors can be opened with the settings in their remote.

As an additional security measure, I would suggest that your attic steps be included in your home security system. I removed the attic steps in lieu of putting in a regular staircase but the door leading to the staircase is alarmed when we are away or when we are sleeping. Rather than break walls to alarm the door, we just put in a wireless alarm linked to the main alarm.

If I receive many emails about garage doors being opened without the owner opening them, I will pass this on to our Resident Board members. So far only 3 residents have emailed me about the problem and hopefully it is just a case of residents having the same codes.
Thanks
Ron

JANE AND KENNY SUSSMAN SAY THANKS

Greta and I just came back from paying Kenny a visit at Robert Woods Johnson Medical Center. Ken fell down just a couple of steps and broke 4 ribs; punctured a lung and part of the lung collapsed. He's currently in their trauma unit. Other than that, Ken is doing great. He and Jane want to thank everyone for their phone calls and well wishes. Hopefully he will be coming home on Friday. I told Ken that his Poker group misses him dearly so he told me that he will mail his usual donation when he plays poker, to the guys. Don't make him laugh because it isn't easy laughing with broken ribs.

I asked Jane to keep us posted with Ken's progress. To know Ken, is to love Ken and we all wish him a very speedy recovery and the poker guys promise that we will take it easy on you once you return.
