If you haven't as yet clicked on the above link, please do so. Some new features have been added to the EMAILER BLOG. Some features like the MEADOWS GOLF SCHEDULE are still in the testing stages.

Please keep in mind that AOL residents should periodically check this site for emails. I think the problem is now "under control" but your emails will be delayed to some extent since I have to send them out over a period of days. Once I receive your email that I have asked you to send to my hotmail email address, your receiving my emails will be much faster. So don't forget (ONLY AOL RESIDENTS) to send me an email to:
regencymessages@hotmail.com

Regarding the EMAILER BLOG, you will now see ALL of my emails and on the left hand side you will see EMAIL ARCHIVES. Click on this and all of my previous emails will be displayed. If you move away, like my good friends, SEENA & STORMIN' NORMAN GOLDBERG, you will still be able to see what is going on at Regency. If you are a snowbird but can't access your emails, you can go on this site to see what has been sent out.

Talking about the GOLDBERG's, they are doing great and love being with their grandchildren and children. Norm (MR. BOWLING) and Seena have joined a bowling league, however he refuses to tell me how he is doing. The Goldberg's lived behind us and we do miss them very much (????), Well let's put it this way, we miss SEENA. Okay, we miss Norm also.

Getting back to the BLOG, you will now have all the FLYERS shown in chronological order on the left side. Click on it and the details of the event will be shown. I have been assured by Charlie, Kieve and Stephanie that ALL flyers will be sent to me so that you will be able to see what is happening here at Regency. If the various clubs want to send me their flyers as you have done in the past, this is no problem. I do prefer if it was sent as a JPEG file since I am having some problems with PDF uploads. If you can't, just send me the PDF file which I can convert into JPEG (it just takes me a little more time to do this).

Again, on the left hand side of the BLOG you will see PICTURES. Just clicking on this link will now take you to a picture site - WITHOUT PASSWORDS. So send me your pictures and I will upload them for others to see.

On the left hand side will be a column of topics that have been posted on the blog. I've been asked MANY times about information on previous emails. Just click the topic and it will take you to the email which contains the information you might be looking for.

One additional column will be called HOME REPAIRS. Basically it will have the information regarding various FIXES to problems encountered by residents, like fireplace remotes not working, or batteries to use in your remote for entering the front gate, or fuses for your air conditioners, etc. Hopefully this might help new homeowners as well as the "old" time homeowners.

If I am missing something that you feel others should know about, just send me an email. A very difficult topic but important for all of us, is to know about repairmen and services like appliances, exterminators, driveway sealing, landscapers, etc. We once formed a committee to deal with this but the committee sort of "fell apart". I've gotten again MANY emails regarding who I use for these different services. The tricky part is how to word an email dealing with the positive and negatives regarding repairmen and services. If you have an idea, let me know.

THE EMAILER GOOFS!

Well I finally made my first mistake in emailing. Frankly speaking, I am not sure how it happened. All of my outgoing emails from Oct until yesterday disappeared. It's no big deal since I can recover most of it by just going to my inbox.

However, I was preparing to send out another email with a lot of information regarding various things and that email is gone. Some items I remembered so it is in this email but, some items I am not sure what they were. So if you sent me something to send out, please send it to me again. My apologies.

WE NEED COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND ACTION
PROPERTY TAX

I ran the following message by John Keane and we agreed that residents should "bombard" the State with emails related to PROPERTY TAX REFORM that the State is currently reviewing. Here is the link where your email can be sent. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY NAMES OF REGENCY RESIDENTS IN YOUR EMAIL AND YOU CAN REMAIN ANNONYMOUS BY NOT PUTTING IN YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.

THE MESSAGE I SENT IS BELOW THE LINK. YOU CAN SEND THE SAME MESSAGE OR WRITE YOUR OWN. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO WRITE AS IT WILL AFFECT YOUR PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES.

It is now very apparent that one of the major problems dealing with this
issue is the way property is revalued. The tax assessors in each
municipality have carte blance in doing whatever he wants to do. They are
"above the law" and nobody, including the Mayor of a town, can "over
rule" a tax collector in the way he determines the tax rates. In the town I live in it is quite apparent that the tax collector uses whatever data he wants to use to keep the "long term residents" of the town happy and then places the burden of taxes on new homes. In our township the reevaluation of property hasn't been done for over 15 years. New homes that cost $400,000 and old homes that can sell for $400,000 pay considerably different amounts in property taxes. TheSTATE MUST come up with a FORMULA for how homes are to be taxed that would include a fair and equitable tax evaluation for ALL townships in NJ. We should NOT allow tax assessors to come up with whatever formula they want to use. Our tax assessor says he is using a formula that other tax
assessors use. So the STATE should check and see if this FORMULA is a
fair FORMULA to use statewide. Also, when you apply the FORMULA. the data used must be objective and NOT data that would sway the results and favor selected groups of homes.

I heard about the possibility of giving residents of NJ a 20% refund on
their property taxes but the rebate will be taken away. The net effect
might be that some residents will get less money then their rebate if this
takes place. I don't think this was the intent. The intent was to give
residents more property tax relief and not less.

I applaud the State for undertaking this task as I am a senior and property
taxes, along with healthcare, are going to put many of us in financial
jeopardy.
Many thanks

TEXAS HOLD'EM TOURNAMENT

Every year this tournament seems to be getting better. This year a few women joined the tournament and the excitement at one table drew large crowds. Angela Bruno almost wiped out the entire table. Her husband Frank, lost early in the preliminaries and was watching Angela and taking notes, based upon Angela's playing techniques. The table was down to just Angela and Marvin Schwartz, Angela was leading with Marvin down to his last few chips. However, Marvin made a terrific comeback and finally became the winner of the table. Angela's play will go down in the record books as being the highlight of this tournament. Imagine, Angela wiped out none other than Jerry (Mr. Hold'em) Stollar who was playing at Angela's table.

So the preliminary matches ended with 7 players going to the finals. Dan Gibson and Lew Tendler were previous finalists with Lew coming in first place in one of our previous tournaments. They went to this year's finals again along with Pete Siedner, Matt Rosenberg, Allan Kahn, Ted Shuster and Marvin Schwartz.

The finals were unbelievable with the results being:
1st place Marvin Schwartz
2nd place Lew Tendler
3rd place Pete Siedner
4th place Allan Kahn
5th place Dan Gibson
6th place Ted Shuster
7th place Matt Rosenberg

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE FINALISTS AND PLAYERS IN THIS YEAR'S TOURNAMENT. THE COMMITTEE IS LOOKING AT HAVING ANOTHER TOURNAMENT BUT THIS TIME IT MIGHT BE OMAHA.

ROMEO'S LUNCHEONS
TUESDAY'S
MEET IN FRONT OF CLUBHOUSE AT 11:40 AM

New resident might ask, what is a ROMEO luncheon? Well, many years ago I formed a group of men and we decided to eat out every Tuesday for lunch. Bob Isaacs gave us the name ROMEO, which stands for RETIRED OLD MEN EATING OUT. So, if you just moved in and want to join us at our regular Tuesday lunch, just meet us in front of the Clubhouse at 11:40 AM. If you arrive at 11:41 AM I've noticed that nobody is there anymore. You see, the ROMEO'S are hungry MEN ONLY residents. Sorry ladies but we need some time to ourselves. Maybe someone will form a JULIET club (Join Us Ladies In Eating Together). Maybe one day ROMEO will ask JULIET out on a luncheon date!)

Rich Lans, Allan Ellis and I have provided you with a schedule of restaurants for 2007. The 2006 schedule is below and it can also be found on the BLOG under ROMEO'S. It will no longer be necessary to ask where are we going this week? You just have to go to: http://regencyemailer2.blogspot.com/ to find out.

OUR SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO LYNN KATZ AND HER FAMILY

I'm sorry to have to report a tragedy that befell one of our Regency neighbors. A friend of ours Lynn Katz moved in to Regency last week (84 Turnberry), and we just found out one of her sons just past away. Burial will be Sunday (in Queens), & she will be sitting Sunday night to Tuesday. If their is any comfort giving group, or if any one wishes to offer condolences, I'm sure it will be appreciated.

Letter from Len Levene

Dear Fellow Regency Residents,

The Fire Election on February 17, 2007 will be for one seat on the five seat Board of Fire Commissioners for Fire District 3 and the annual budget for the 2007 year.

I have served as your Fire Commissioner for three years and will be up for re-election. In the past three years I have worked with my fellow Fire Commissioners to achieve significant enhancements of Fire District 3’s fire fighting capability. Response times have been reduced to meet National Standards due to the now operating second firehouse, and the numbers of Firefighters and equipment have been increased. In addition, planning is underway for improvement and refurbishment of the Schoolhouse Road firehouse which houses the first responders to Regency.

I also have served the Regency Community as Chairman of the Resident’s Clubhouse Enhancement Committee since its inception in August 2003. I have worked closely with the Monroe Township Government, Toll Brothers and the Resident’s Committee over the ensuing three plus years and the result is the wonderful “new” Clubhouse we now have.

I also sit on the Monroe Township Planning Board.

With this record of achievement, I will continue serve the Regency Community and Fire District 3 in the same excellent manner in the next three years.

I am the sole Regency resident on the Fire District 3 Board of Fire Commissioners and I believe that Regency continues to deserve a seat on the Fire District 3 Board of Fire Commissioners.

Please vote for me either via absentee ballot or in person at the Clubhouse on February 17th.

Requests for Absentee Ballots and instructions for their completion are available at the Clubhouse Concierge. Have the Absentee Ballot sent to where you will be the first and second week of February 2007.The laws have changed and now absentee ballots are available to anybody – you do not have to be away or disabled. There will be a polling station in the clubhouse on February 17th and the polls will be open from 2 PM to 9 PM.

If I can answer any questions you may have please feel free to call me at 732 605 9867.

Thank you,
Len Levene

Instructions for Request for Fire Election Absentee Ballot

The next Fire District 3 (Regency’s District) Fire Election for Budget and Commissioner will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007. The polls will be open from 2 PM to 9 PM that day. There will be a polling station open in the Regency Clubhouse.

Absentee ballots can be obtained if you are away OR at home on the date of the election. You do not need to be disabled to receive an absentee ballot at home.

In order to vote in the Fire election you must be a registered voter in Middlesex County. Registration by mail forms are available in the Monroe Township Clerk’s office.

In order to receive an absentee ballot each person must complete a Civilian Absentee Ballot Application. Civilian Absentee Ballot Applications will be available at the Concierge Desk in the Clubhouse. Please read both sides of the form.

If you would prefer, rather than mailing in the completed Civilian Absentee Ballot Application you can leave them underneath Len Levene’s mailbox at 10 Crenshaw Court. Please leave the Applications in my mailbox no later than January 2, 2007. Applications completed after that date will have to be directly mailed to the Middlesex County Clerk by the applicant. I will ensure that the Applications provided me will reach the Middlesex County Clerk in ample time.

Instructions for completion of the Civilian Absentee Ballot Application are as follows:

Place your return address on the address (to the Middlesex County Clerk) side of the form. On the reverse side, in the “absentee ballot for” section at the top put an X in the small square labeled “Fire” and immediately after the word “Fire” print “District 3”. Then, on the next line, after where it says “to be held on” print Feb 17, 2007”. Then fill the next two sections out. The last three sections should not normally be used.

If there are any questions please call Len Levene at 732 605 9867.

NEW MEDICAL CENTER - OPEN WEEKENDS

I usually don't put things like this in my emails but I have had many emails asking if I new of a physician who is available on weekends and evenings. One of our residents sent me the following information.

Medical Enter of Monroe is a place where we recently had our flu shots. They have recently opened - 7 days a week. This medical facility can help out anyone who needs to be seen when your doctor is not available, especially on weekends; a doctor is available at all times. The phone number is (609) 655-6800. They're located on Applegarth Rd. in the Apple Plaza near Dee's Bagels. We found it to be very clean and professional.

THAT'S IT FOR NOW
