PICTURES FROM THE MAYOR'S TROPHY BOCCE GAMES

REGENCY'S BOCCE TEAM GIVES IT THEIR BEST

Carmine Carrara, whether in victory or defeat, your Regency community applauds you and your teams valiant efforts in trying to win the Mayor's Trophy in Bocce. Our friends at Encore came away with the gold in Bocce, but we at least, came away with the gold, as the community that had eaten the most hot dogs on this day. We prepared for the dog eating contest by the team not eating for a week. You know this is a lie because there is no way that Joe, Carmine, Allan, Joel, Mario and all the other guys on the team would give up a week's worth of food.

Carmine, your contract has been renewed for one more year. Carmine promised me that next year the results would be different (probably because they would be serving hamburgers vs. hot dogs and we would be winning the hamburger and not the hot dog contest).

I took some pictures so click on the link to see the Bocce Ballers from Regency.

ANOTHER VIEWPOINT ON MY EMAIL REGARDING THE DISPLAY OF THE AMERICAN FLAG ON 9/11

Dear Ron,
I was sorry to read this post. Of course we were shocked and saddened by the events of September 11, 2001, but nobody's patriotism should be judged by whether or not they display an American flag in commemoration of that day. A peremptory demand such as this makes me think we are heading back to the dark days of McCarthyism. Please publish my view in your next post.
Very best regards,
Victor [Rangel-Ribeiro]

(Emailer's Note: Please understand that as this communities emailer, some issues may or may not be controversial. Futhermore, what was issued in my email may or may not be written by me or be something I agree or disagree with.

The previous email regarding the display of the American Flag came from someone in the community asking that it be put into my email. As far as me personally, displaying an American flag may not make that person patriotic.

The display of the flag on that day makes me stop, reflect and think about those who lost their lives and I know some who did, including the Mayor's son in Manalapan. One day out of my life, seeing the flags would be a knock on my head to put down my golf clubs, stop pounding the keyboard on my computer and just think about what happened on that day and how it affected me and those I know personally.

I think about Greta's cousin who decided to take a haircut that morning instead of being at work in the World Trade Center. I think about my son and I who would have been near the WTC at the time of the disaster, but we were running late. I think about our good friends whose daughter was thought to have perished but miraculously got out, found her father, who was running towards the WTC and who had stopped because of the smoke and started crying. To me, the display of the flag on this day, really has nothing to do with patriotism. It has to do with remembering those things I just mentioned - the lucky ones who survived and the people I know who perished.)

I also received an email from a resident dealing with the proper way to display the American Flag. Check out this site for this information:
