SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT CASABLANCA FANS AND OUR SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY

I previously mentioned that I was having a problem with the Intelitouch system from Casablanca. I spoke to an engineer at the factory. He advised me NEVER to shut the fan(s) off by using the power button as so many people do. The fan should be shut off using ONLY the fan button. The same rule applies to the light if the fan has one.

Since following his advise I have NOT had any additional problems. My neighbor who still uses the power button is having a problem. You might want to pass this info on to the others. I also received the same advise from my electrican and the owner of Fan World on Route 9N.

Just the other day a new home under construction next door failed electrical inspection. The high amps were actually blowing their equipment, and they were unable to do any work with power tools. Too many amps going into the house. Jersey power was here and did something to adjust the situation. Talking to the Jersey power tech he informed me that this problem is common in the development.

An email from a Resident - this might help

I have a Casablanca & have had the trouble you describe. Never had a repairman come out, but have spoken to them. They obviously are also aware of the problem. Their solution which I have used on several occasions should help. First off the problem is usually power surge related, & that means even the real short ones, like when the lights just flicker. Their suggessted remedy (which I haven't had to use in a while, is to place the fan controls in the off position, wait several minutes & then hold down the on switch for several seconds, that sort of recysles everything & the fan starts to work as good as new

Another email from a Resident regarding Casablanca:

We had purchased many Casablanca fans, including three with the intellitouch control. All three stopped working shortly after we had experienced those electrical interuptions. Casablanca had informed me that any area with spikes, brownouts, etc. shouldn't use these fans. After many phone calls with the store I purchased them from, they agreed to take them back and switch them with remote control fans. We have had no furthur problems. However, we were responsible for the cost of having our electrician remove and rehang the new ones, which was very costly since we have a loft with the high ceiling. We are trying to get Casablanca to reimburse us. I'm not counting on that

Another email from a resident regarding Casablanca fans:

Thanks for keeping us current with the Casablanca Fan problems.

I, too, am experiencing problems with my fan. I had an electrician check out he Intelli-Touch System. The electrician told me that the power to the switch was fine, but didn't measure the voltage. I called Casablanca and they Fed-Ex'd the necessary part to me, at no charge, be replaced inside the fan housing itself.

For the past two months, it's been hit and miss. It can run for weeks, and the, all of a sudden, not start at all. I've been reluctant to change the part but will now check the voltage first.
