Snow Birds must leave contact information for tax relief updates

Many Regency residents are preparing to leave for their winter quarters. It is important that the Steering Committee have some way to contact all residents in the event of a major milestone in our tax relief effort. Stephanie has agreed that the concierge will collect this contact information and hold it for one of our committee members. If you will be away from Regency for an extended time, please provide the following information and give it to the concierge:

Status of the tax relief effort.

Our Attorney is waiting for the 2008 Ratio information from the Attorney General’s office prior to its public release. The State has all of the data required to generate this ratio, but they have not yet released it. The ratio information could be released any day. The Township will not finalize any offers to the CCMT until they have the official ratio. If this scenario continues much longer, we will instruct our Attorney to do a full court press with the law suit. At the moment, we are in the discovery phase of the law suit.

Because this is election time, locally and on the State level, we thought it would be informative to send a list of questions to each of the candidates who would represent Monroe Township, at any level, if elected. We have witnessed the shameful exhibition in the Legislature as they struggled to solve(?) the property tax mess without sacrificing any of their personal benefits. We have also witnessed how the Middlesex County Tax Board has refused to assume any responsibility for the tax inequities that exist in Monroe Township. It is time for us to challenge the people who would seek to represent us. Each candidate would receive the same questions, and their answers would be distributed to all CCMT members. Everything would be done on a non-partisan basis. But our emphasis would be to determine how each candidate would handle the inequities in assessment values throughout Monroe if they were elected. New Jersey state law provides a complete revaluation of the township as the essential tool for equalizing assessment values within a municipality like Monroe Township. Actually, this is an ideal time for a revaluation. Market values are the lowest they have been in many years. The published ratio for Monroe is also the lowest it has been in years. The combination of a low ratio and lower market values would assure reduced assessment values for many homeowners. It would also assure that assessment values would not rise as much as in a rising real estate market for those properties that presently have lower assessments than the average. The list of questions is being prepared and will be distributed shortly.

Regency and Barnegat Water Volley Ball

Regency and Barnegat met on Monday, September 17 to play Water
Volley Ball at Regency's indoor pool. The two teams have competed for more
then a year, playing every 5 to 6 weeks. Barnegat is a skilled and well
trained team and typically wins 80 to 90% of the games with a
differential of 2 to 3 points per game.

On Monday 9/17, it looked like the standard outcome was developing when Regency took control and beat Barnegat 21 to 10. It didn't matter to Regency that Barnegat won the other 4 games, we had done something we had never done before.

Regency knows that our improvement is due to our playing a much
superior team, a bunch of guys that we consider as friends.

(Emailer's Note: Congratulations to our Volleyball team. I remember the early days when you guys looked more like you were doing some synchronized swimming vs. volleyball. You've come a long way. Keep up the good work and maybe one day I'll see you guys in the US Olympics (probably carrying the teams bags)

ARE YOU HAVING PROBLEMS WITH YOUR CASABLANCA FAN?
CONTACT BERT SAUM

Several homeowners in the development are having problems with their Casablanca fan that uses the inteli-touch system. My fan is not operating at all. When I spoke to Casablanca they said that you need the voltage in your house to be between 120 - 124 volts. If not it could effect the computer chip inside the fan. When I and another homeowner measured the voltage, we found out that it was 132.2 volts. We spoke to Central Jersey Power and they confirmed our reading. They are presently working to correct the situation. I would like to know if any other homeowners are having problems with their Casablanca fans that uses the inteli-touch system.

(EMAILER'S NOTE: LET ME KNOW THE OUTCOME SO THAT I COULD PUT IT IN AN EMAIL. THIS ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED IN ONE OF MY PREVIOUS EMAILS AND RESIDENTS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. TALKING ABOUT PROBLEMS, IT SEEMS THAT THE PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH OUR WALL OVEN (GE PROFILE - F7 PROBLEM), IS A PROBLEM THAT OTHERS HAVE ENCOUNTERED. THE ELECTRONIC PANEL WAS REPLACED. IF YOU RESET THE CIRCUIT BREAKER, THE F7 WILL GO AWAY BUT EVENTUALLY IT MIGHT SHOW UP AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM WAS ALSO RELATED TO EITHER ELECTRICAL SPIKES OR BROWNOUTS)
