SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION - DECEMBER 11TH

Tuesday December 11th is a school Board Election. The Board of Education is requesting authorization for a capital project in the amount of $41,000,000 for additional costs to complete the new High School. Previously the voters approved a bond issue for the original cost of the School.

As an emailer, all I can say is come out and vote. I must remain neutral (I'm doing all I can from holding myself back on this issue). I've received emails from not only Regency residents but from other communities who have voiced their opinions (which coincides with mine) and your support by voting, would be important. I would assume that the voting will take place here in the Clubhouse. Still being neutral, if you like to see a large increase in your taxes, then vote for the bond, BUT, if you would like to make sure that your taxes aren't increased DRAMATICALLY, then vote AGAINST, the bond issue, but make sure you VOTE. That's as NEUTRAL as I can get!

It's kind of funny, or is it kind of political, that this school board issue is being voted upon when many residents from adult communities migrate south for the winter, making it more difficult for them to vote.

Here's a little history about the school tax issue:
Sept 2002 - Voters reject $113 million new high school.
Dec 2003 - Board pares amount to $82.9 million. Voters approve.
Dec 2007 - Board is asking for additional $41.9 million. Total cost $125 million
