50 YEAR JEFF REUNION

There is a 50th Reunion in June for Jeff. As a matter of fact it is not just for 1957 grads - also other schools are invited to attend.

(The information was provided to me by Dorothy Witlin so I guess she might have more information. I think if Tildenites attended this reunion we might relive some of the football duels!)

GOOGLE SEARCH FINDS YOUR HOME WITH JUST YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER

Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book.

If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.

Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it came up along with the mapquest and directions straight to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and encourage all of you to do the same. Quite scary.

Please look up your own number.

In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: google (http://www.google.com/) Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours.

Check your own number and although this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or c ell phone as primary contact, b u t you may know someone who needs to know this.

A TOUCHING LETTER FROM SHEILA AND LEN ROSEN'S DAUGHTER

Attached is a letter that Sheila and Len Rosen's daughter sent to friends and family. Their son Robert was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma last July. If you are interested in purchasing a bracelet, please contact Sheila at 732.605.7055 or you may donate through Robert's webpage listed below.

Cancer...it's such an awful word, such an awful disease, and it affects all of us. I can't think of one person who hasn't lived with it, helped someone else fight it, or worse, lost someone to it. My brother is fighting it now, and it's been an ungodly year. Surgeries, treatment, uncertainty, fear all while trying to lead a normal family life, raise two kids and keep a job. I watched my friend do the same thing while fighting breast cancer a few years ago. She's a survivor in the truest sense. Her Mom was diagnosed a few weeks after she was, and she's still fighting. Everyone knows someone..the list is lonG..and getting longer.

If, like me, you're looking for something..some WAY to make a difference, here is an opportunity. Rob decided to walk in the RELAY FOR LIFE with a team of coworkers from SAS. This is the American Cancer Society's (ACS) biggest event to raise money for education and research for the following year. The RELAY consists of teams, each committed to raising funds for ACS. Each team has at least one person walking at all times throughout the 24 hour event. Here is the link to the local RELAY FOR LIFE. http://www.acsevents.org/faf/home/default.asp?

Rob asked me if I would help do some fundraising for his team, so we're doing two different fundraisers. All profits will go the American Cancer Society and will be credited under Rob?s name. The first fundraiser is the sale of luminarias. Luminarias are glowing bags that on first glance appear to be nothing more than paper sacks filled with sand and candles. But upon closer examination, these bags represent people, each with a name and a story to tell. The Ceremony of Hope is one of the most special and moving events in the entire RELAY FOR LIFE. Everyone gathers around to remember those lost to cancer, support those fighting cancer, and rejoice with those who have fought the disease and won. Luminarias are available for a contribution to the American Cancer Society. These contributions can be credited towards Rob's team. Purchasing a luminary in honor of or in memory of a friend or loved one who has had cancer is a wonderful w ay to participate and raise funds at the same time. If you would like to purchase a luminary, please go to Rob's webpage (listed below) and click on the ..Purchase a Luminary.. button on the left side of the page. From this webpage, you can also choose to ..Donate to a Participant.. if you prefer to just make a cash donation. https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?
The second fundraiser we're doing is a bracelet. It will be a black (for melanoma awareness) silicone bracelet with a cancer awareness ribbon and the words FIGHT?HOPE?BELIEVE? imprinted in it. They are available in youth (7") or adult (8") sizes and will cost $5. If you are interested in purchasing bracelets, please let me know how many and which sizes you would like.

Thank you so much for the support and prayers you've sent our way. We appreciate every single one. Keep them coming, and keep the faith.

My heartfelt thanks,

Robin

STROKE AWARENESS

Even if you've seen this before, this message bears repeating . . .

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Steps

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shook up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been at the hospital - (at 6:00 PM , Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end in a helpless, hopeless condition instead it only takes a minute to read this...
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke is difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK: to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. . . It is sunny out today)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
{NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue... if the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke}
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

THAT'S IT FOR NOW
RON
