Even though things like street addresses and telephone numbers are public knowledge, in speaking with a few residents I have decided to make both Telephone Directory's (sorted by Last Name and sorted by Street), password protected. If you want to open the file you must type in (password sent to you by email; if you don't know it just contact me). You can save the Excel file, if you wish to your hard drive by clicking on save. However, to open the file you must use the password.

For those of you who don't want their names, addresses, telephone numbers listed, just send me a note and I will remove it. Unfortunately with the development of the Internet it is interesting to note that this type of information is readily available to anyone wanting to know it. For example:

Click on:
http://people.yahoo.com/
and fill in your name and it will tell you your address and telephone number
or
http://www.usa-people-search.com/Default.aspx?view=PE
and type in Your Name and Monroe Township NJ
and it will give you the members of your family.

Scary, isn't it! That's why Identity Theft is on the rise. What can we do about it? Absolutely nothing! If your name, address and telephone number is in the Telephone Company's Telephone Book, you just made this information known to the public. If a person paid some of these companies to obtain additional information, he or she could probably find out what a person had for dinner last night. Email addresses - just pay a company and they will supply you with any email address you want. Did you ever receive an email that starts off Hi, YOUR NAME - well that came off of some database with your name and address.

So even though I am encrypting the telephone directory on my blog with a password, suffice it to say that there are other ways of finding out this information.

I know I speak for everyone in extending our deepest sympathies on the passing of Goodie's father, Bernard Mollen. The funeral will be held in Richmond VA on Sunday at 11 AM and Goodie will be sitting at his home in Regency (58 Turnberry) on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
