BACKING UP THE EMAILER

I would like to thank the many residents who wrote me about being a backup emailer for emergency messages when I am not available. I don't think I have to define what constitutes an emergency message. If I will be away for a period of time and an emergency does arise, here are the names of the 3 residents who you can contact to send out your message:

PHYLLIS GREENBERG
KAREN ROSS
STEVE KARTEN

I chose the first 3 residents who sent me an email. Shortly they will learn everything that needs to be learned about sending out an email using Intelli Contact. I will let the community know when I/we will be away and when I'll be returning. During this period the above residents can be contacted. Please, just emergency emails during this period of time.

ANOTHER NEW FEATURE ADDED TO MY BLOG

As I mentioned, I have sooooo much free time on my hands since finding a new way of sending out emails that I keep adding new things to my BLOG.

Here is the NEW addition. If you have found an interesting and informative place on the web (guys, it must be rated PG), send me the info and I will add it.
I was checking out my former hospital and found an interesting Drug Guide that would help you know a little more about your medications.

The speed test site should be interesting. Click on Seattle and jot down the download and upload speeds of your computer as they are today (it varies to some extent during the day). When you switch over from Advanced Broadband to either Verizon DSL or Comcast, do the speed test again and see if your computer became a "super" computer with regard to how fast it will be working your new ISP. So far here are the interesting websites that would be found on my blog:

IF YOU HAVEN'T AS YET SENT IN YOU AND/OR YOUR SPOUSE'S BIRTHDAY AND ANNIVERSARY, PLEASE SEND IT IN SOON.

START SENDING ME YOUR BIRTHDAY'S AND ANNIVERSARY'S

You don't have to tell me what year you were born - just the month and date. For anniversary's, just month and date or if you want to be proud of the number of years you are married to your spouse, send me the year. For Greta and I this coming June will be 40 wonderful years (I get some brownie points for saying this). I know some of you have reached the 50 year + plateau and this is fantastic so let me know. Go to my blog and check out the Birthday's and Anniversary's. It's sorted by Month and also by Last Name.

http://regencyemailer2.blogspot.com/

At the beginning of each month, the first message and on the very top, will be the names and dates of those residents who are celebrating their birthday's and anniversary's, during the month. As an added treat, instead of my DOO WOP music, you will hear me singing the Happy Birthday song.

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters...S.T.R.
STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and that she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm, Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE
(Coherently) (i.e. .. . It is sunny out today)
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

*NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their
tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other,
that is also an indication of a stroke. If he or she has trouble with
ANY ONE of these tasks, call 911 immediately !! and describe the
symptoms to the dispatcher.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to
10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

THAT'S IT FOR NOW
