MY APOLOGIES - ZOOMSHARE OVERLOADED!!

Some of you might have seen the following when you clicked on some of the links I sent you in my last email.

We're Sorry!

This zoomshare has exceeded its daily traffic limit.

If you are the owner of this site, you can increase your site's daily traffic limit by upgrading to zoomshare plus.

As some of you know I use Zoomshare to store some of the files that I send to you. However, as Regency grows and emailing grows with it, Zoomshare only allows so many "hits" per day before it tells you that an upgrade is necessary.

I'm in the process of looking at various online file storage sites that offer the ability to have as many "hits" as needed. They will also give me the ability to upload as many gigabytes of data as I might need. You would also have the ability of downloading those files that you might want to your computer, eg. photos, flyers, etc. With this type of ability, emailing will reach a new dimension in technology. You will see, you will hear and hopefully you will enjoy all the new things that I hope to have available by January of 2008.

In the meantime, please understand that some links may not be opened because the number of residents clicking on these links far exceeds my quota. By the way, it is a daily quota so if you go back to an email, you can click on the link, maybe a day later, and it might open.

THE WORM PROBLEM

In my last email the email sounded as if I had the worm problem. In reality it was an email sent to me by a resident. I have had several emails letting me know that others are also having the problem.

When we first moved in I seem to remember these green looking inch worms. We called Cavanaugh's and they sprayed outside the house and the problem was erradicated.

HERE'S A NOTE FROM A RESIDENT WHO ALSO HAS WORMS

Ah yes! WORMS!!!

I've started a collection.

They are dark brown, about an inch in length, with the girth of pencil lead.
Accept for one that I found in the front laundry room (a Bayhill, What
else?) they were/are found in the main bathroom in the morning.
(HMMMM! Sounds like the worms need to see a Gastroenterologist!)

I haven't seen any since the weather turned cooler, but maybe tomorrow if
I'm lucky.

Someone else told me about worms, but just wrote it off as a seasonal
problem without taking any action.

Although I am/was a city boy, Brooklyn, I grew up with the idea that worms
in the garden were a good sign.

Based on your reader's comments, it doesn't appear that an exterminator is
the solution.

I would be interested as well as to what feedback you get on this subject.

Thanks
(Note: I kept the resident's name annonymous because I know that Mark Klein and his Fishermen would run over to the resident's home and start collecting these worms for his next trip)

MORE ABOUT THE WORMS
IS THERE ANYTHING THAT JIMMY MELHORN DOESN'T KNOW??

For those of you who don't know Jimmy Melhorn let me tell you that "HE IS SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER (TV PROGRAM)." When it comes to Animal Sciences, Jimmy cannot be beat. While playing golf one day with Jimmy and finding a snake (a big one) in the water near hole #3, Jimmy gave me two possibilities regarding what kind of snake it was. When he said RAT SNAKE, I said, "on to hole #4".

So with the problem some community residents are having with worms, here is Jimmy's response:

Ron, the worms you are finding are probably pill bugs. They are not harmful and according to the research from the internet they breed in Sept. and that is why you are finding them now.

Jim Melhorn
(Emailer's Question: "Jimmy, can we ask these pill bugs to breed at Encore vs. Regency?" Also, "how can you tell the difference between a male and female pill bug?" Don't answer that question. I think the answer would be that female pill bugs like to play mah jongg and male pill bugs like to play poker.

MORE APOLOGIES

I guess this email can be called the APOLOGY email. Besides the Zoomshare problem I recently converted my email program from Eudora to Outlook Express. Eudora was one of the first programs dealing with emailing. The company, no longer provides updates or support so when I developed a problem with it, I decided to go to Outlook Express, which seems like it is the standard for emailing.

By doing so, the formatting of pages dealing with margins is somewhat different so you might find some of my emails running past the end of your screen. You would have to keep scrolling over to see the information at the right hand side of the screen. My apologies to those who have encountered this problem.

I am still learning more about Outlook Express and if someone has the answer regarding how to avoid the scrolling over to the right side of the screen to see the print that is not visible on your screen, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Sending myself emails to my email accounts at Yahoo, Hotmail and AOL besides Outlook Express, I haven't encountered this problem but I have encountered other problems like, the red color in my headings aren't shown all the time when received by some of my email providers. The way text is formatted on the screen changes with different providers. My links come over as two links for each link - no clue why this happens.

I also have found that some of you who have sent me emails, well, for some reason it is not being received. I realized that this might be a problem when a few of you contacted me by phone to let me know that I didn't respond to your emails. I make it a point to respond to EVERY email even if it is to say THANKS. So if you don't receive a response, please give me a call. I am making a list of these addresses and hopefully I will find out why I am not receiving emails. When I had Eudora and with my EBAY business, I definitely received a lot more emails then I am getting now. Again, if anyone has answers to these problems, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks
Ron

WE ARE LOOKING TO INTEREST ANY FRESH WATER FISHERMAN WHO WANT TO GO ON FRESH WATER TRIPS TO CONTACT MARK KLEIN.

(EMAILER'S THOUGHT: IF I GO TO A NEIGBORHOOD FISH MARKET I WOULD PROBABLY PAY $5/LB FOR STRIPPED BASS, SO AT $65 THIS MEANS YOU MUST CATCH 13 LBS OF STRIPPED BASS TO BREAK EVEN. HMMM! MAYBE I'LL GO ON THE TRIP AND EVERYTHING OVER 13 LBS. I'LL OPEN A STAND AT THE FRONT GATE AND SELL IT AT A DISCOUNT OF COURSE TO REGENCY RESIDENTS. IF WE FISH FOR TUNA, I'LL CAN IT AND GO INTO COMPETITION WITH BUMBLE BEE (WHAT A NAME FOR A TUNA COMPANY). HOWEVER, ANOTHER TUNA COMPANY IS CHICKEN OF THE SEA - WHY CONFUSE EVERYONE, IT SHOULD BE CALLED TUNA OF THE SEA AND BUMBLE TUNA)

ANOTHER ERROR BY THE EMAILER

I inadvertently left off some of the grandchildren pictures from Bernie (Our Ace Photographer) and Elaine (The Ace's Wife). The following link now has the Schwartz's
grandchildren. Some photos might be duplicated but 2 is better then none. His photography work is sensational but to Bernie's credit, his subjects are just as sensational.

A WORD OF CAUTION REGARDING CHAIN EMAILS

Follow the advice of this message that was sent to me by our Computer Guru, Alan Briskin. I NEVER forward any of these types of chain emails.

Alan's message:

I've suspected this for some time now, and I have not sent on this kind of email for quite a while. If it has a nice message, I delete the stuff about sending it on, then send to some. We all need to be vigilant about protecting each other, including using the BCC function (Blind Carbon Copy) when you send out jokes, etc. to several folks.

Subject: Never sign an e-mail petition...

From Snopes.com

If your going to pass something along?, Let it be THIS!
To whom it all concerns:

Just a word to the wise. E-mail petitions are NOT acceptable to Congress or any other municipality. To be acceptable, petitions must have a signed signature and full address. Same with "prayer chains " -- be wary.

Almost all e-mails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of Records for t he most cards All it was, and all this type of e-mail is, is to get names and "cookie" tracking info for telemarketers and spammers to validate active e-mail accounts for their own purposes.

Any time you see an e-mail that says forward this on to "10" of your friends, sign this petition, or you'll get good luck, or what ever, it may either have an e-mail tracker program attached that tracks the cookies and e-mails of those folks you forward to, or the host sender is getting a copy Each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of "active" e-mails to use in spam e-mails, or sell to others that do.

Please forward this notice to others and you will be providing a good service to your friends, and will be rewarded by not getting 30,000 spam e-mails in the future.

(If you have been sending out the above kinds of email, now you know why you get so much spam!)
