OUR PURCHASING GROUP

Last week this group met. We will officially give ourselves a name soon since we don't want any misunderstands that this is a HOA or Toll related group.

The group is composed of 10 Regency residents and will meet once a month. We discussed the Waiver of Liability and each resident who decides to join this group will have to provide me with an email that they would accept or agree to the terms in the Waiver. The reason for the Waiver is obvious. The members of the Purchasing Group would not want to be liable for any problems a resident may encounter with a vendor. The group will provide the price but the contract would be with the resident and vendor so as to give the group less of a chance of being sued. In one of my forthcoming emails, the Waiver of Liability will be included and you would just have to say that you agree with the terms. Once you agree then ALL future contracts will be at your disposal.

We discussed how to handle residents who have a service or a product that they might want to offer. These residents would not be eligible to enter into a competitive contract but they may send me a one page flyer which will be sent out to the community and will be included on my BLOG under RESIDENT PRODUCTS AND SERVICES. So, if you are a travel agent, an insurance agent, seller of appliances, handyman, etc. just send me or put into my mailbox a flyer letting everyone know what you have to offer. The first flyer to be included comes from THE SENIOR TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATES, LLC. Click on the following link to see what they have to offer in providing computer services.
http://www.freefilehosting.org/public/45631/senior%20computer%20associates.pdf

Their flyer will also be found on my BLOG, as I had mentioned, under REGENCY PRODUCTS AND SERVICES (left hand side)

The committee decided that we should begin the process of going out for competitive bidding on just three items at this time. We want to make sure that all of our procedures that we developed are in place and are workable before going into any additional items or services. So, the three items are:

SECURITY ALARM MONITORING
COMPUTERS - REPAIRS
HOME POWERWASHING

Some of you have already sent me information regarding Security Monitoring and these companies will be called. However, if you know of other companies please let me know. The same holds true with Computer Repairs and Home Powerwashing. We are looking for vendors and when we have enough, we will call each person in to provide us with a contract. We might provide residents with a few contracts for each item just so that residents might have a choice.

Future items and services that will be considered are:

ALL INCLUSIVE (HVAC, HEATING AND AC, WATER HEATER, APPLIANCES)

EXTERMINATOR

PLUMBER, ELECTRICIAN

LANDSCAPERS

HANDYMAN

WINDOW CLEANING

FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

PAINTER

DRIVEWAY SEALING

Let us know if there is something that you want this committee to look into.

2008 GOLF SEASON AT THE MEADOWS

It's hard to believe that our 2007 golf season at the Meadows is coming to a close at the end of October. Plans are underway for us to have the same number of tee times (13) next season on Wednesday's beginning at 7:06.

We have 7 vacant positions as a Regular, which will be available for next season. New Regulars will be given the later tee times (7:50 and on). If interested in joining our golfing group, just send me an email. I will add players on a first come, first serve basis and as soon as we hit 7, no other regulars will be added.

FISHY NEWS FROM THE FISHING CLUB

On Thursday August 16, The Regency Fishing Club held another fishing trip for the 2007 season, running a charter trip aboard the Eagle, sailing out of Atlantic Highlands, NJ.

We left the dock at 6:30 am with 15 aboard for a day of fishing for fluke. The weather was very overcast with moderate wind. We headed southeast to Ambrose Channel, which lays about 4 miles off shore and started drifting in 70 to 80 feet of water for Fluke, almost immediately we started catching keeper Fluke over 17 inches. The action was constant for most of the day and we returned to the dock at 2:30 with a bunch of very happy fisherman. The count was over 35 keeper Fluke with about another 40 shorts that we returned to the ocean for next year. The pool winner was Ken Kapel with a 5lb. Fluke.

On Tuesday August 28, the fishing club held another successful charter trip aboard the Eagle sailing out of Atlantic Highlands, NJ with Captain Art Hilliard as our Captain. We left the dock at 6:30am with 16 men aboard for a day of Fluke fishing. The weather was spectacular, temperature in the high 80’s, no wind, and calm seas. We again traveled to Ambrose Channel and started our drift. We had good action most of the day with all catching fish. The Pool was won by Barry Shandler with a 4lb. Fluke

On Tuesday September 25, the fishing club held another successful charter trip aboard the Eagle sailing out of Atlantic Highlands, NJ with Captain Art Hilliard as our Captain. We left the dock at 6:45am with 10 men aboard for a day of bottom fishing for Seabass & Porgies. The Captain thought we should try for Stripped Bass on our way out so we anchored on the clam grounds about 2 miles south of Sandy Hook. We had two run offs so after an hour Mark Klein instructed the Captain to change over to our original plans for bottom fishing. We moved and arrived at the Sandy Hook Reef, which is about 7 miles south around Sandy Hook and about two miles off shore and dropped anchor. Within a short period of time we started to catch a lot of small Bagalls and small Porgies with a few small Seabass, most were shorts and had to be returned to the sea. After about two hours we moved further south to the Shrewsbury Rocks and anchored on a spot the Captain had found by accident a few weeks before while Bluefishing. As we dropped our lines in and before the sinkers hit bottom we were getting hits, and all aboard were catching larger keeper Seabass and Porgies. The action was constant for hours until we started to head back at 1:00. It was evident that this area had not been fished because no one knew this spot held these bottom species and these fish were hungry. The pool was won with two minutes left before going back by Mark Klein with a 4lb. Seabass. The final count was 40 keeper Sea bass and 30 keeper Porgies with at least another 150 plus, smaller Sea Bass and Porgies returned to the sea to grow larger. A new member to our club is Norman Weiner and this was his first trip. Norman did fantastically well and has already signed up for our next trip.

Please join us on our upcoming trips no experience is needed.
